Case Study - Franchise Introduction
A movie franchise is a collection of related films in succession that share the same fictional universe, or are marketed as a series. Many book series were being made into films, especially in the early 2000s where many book to film adaptations hit the big screen and created a worldwide craze. By turning each individual book into a film, it allowed for most of the story line to be incorporated without missing out crucial aspects.
5 franchises I have thought about reviewing:
- Harry Potter by J.K Rowling
- 7 books made into 8 films
- The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
- 3 books and 4 films
- The Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer
- 5 books made into 5 books
- The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien
- 3 books made into 3 films
- The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S Lewis
- 7 books, only three of them made into films
Many franchises have managed to bring in millions, if not billions of pounds. By using the initial novels, authors and film companies are able to create an entire world surrounding the original literature. These often become famous worldwide.
