Project Management - End of November 2021

I have completed my Handmaid's Tale case study and recorded all the relevant research in my blog post. I did a mix of primary research by comparing the book and the series myself. Studying The Handmaid's Tale in English Literature has given me a good insight into the novel, and I have used this knowledge to validate my comparisons.

I made comparisons with the cast and the original characters, in order to see how well they were portrayed on screen. I also identified positive and negative differences to evaluate whether the series has ruined literature or enhanced it. Since many of the topics in The Handmaid's Tale are still relevant issues, I was able to see how the story has influenced modern day social change. For example, many people in America have been dressing up as handmaids to protest against oppressive laws, particularly under Trump's government.

As I went along, I evaluated all my sources for my research, including when I accessed them, why they were useful, what I found out and if they were reliable.

Generally, this case study has been useful as it has backed up my idea that adaptations are not ruining literature. The series has encouraged many people to go back and read the original novel, which has been identified due to a spike in book and e-book sales.

Next, I am going to start my Harry Potter case study which I hope to finish before Christmas. I think I'll be able to stick to this timeline.
